2025 LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards: Winner Statements

The annual Australian LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards are based on the results of the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI), which is Australia’s national benchmarking instrument for LGBTQ+ inclusion within Australian workplaces. It is a tool based on the rigorous assessment of evidence submitted annually by nearly 200 organisations.
Below are statements from CEOs of organisations who have obtained Gold and/or Platinum Employer status based on the results of the AWEI.
Also below are statements from winners in our Nominated Award categories, which are not based on the results of the Index Submission but celebrated and acknowledged at the same event.
Platinum Employer Recognition
2025 saw a record of Platinum Tier achievements!
Platinum Employer recognition acknowledges the highest levels of performance within the AWEI over a sustained period of time. Employers must first qualify for Platinum Tier recognition by achieving an AWEI score within the current Gold range of scores for four out of the last five successive years; or be awarded Employer of the Year twice within that period.
Once an employer qualifies for Platinum Employer recognition, they may then choose to alternate between a workplace project and the AWEI Submission. This reduces the full AWEI benchmarking submission to once every three years should the alternative AWEI project offer be taken up
Platinum Employer recognition must be maintained annually by maintaining the criteria for four of the last five submission cycles. If this criteria is not met, employers drop back to the employer tier dictated by their score. Annual Platinum status is the highest obtainable recognition within the AWEI.
AWEI Platinum Tier Standard Employers (500 or more employees)
We are honoured that DLA Piper Australia has once again been named ‘Employer of the Year’ by the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) for 2025, and now, for the second year running. This recognition, along with our elevation to Platinum Status, is a powerful testament to our enduring commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality at the Firm.
Achieving this milestone reflects the collective effort of our people across the firm, especially our LGBTQ+ network, Iris, whose leadership, advocacy and unwavering dedication continue to shape a more inclusive and respectful workplace. Their work inspires us every day and drives meaningful change.
At DLA Piper, we believe that fostering a culture of inclusion is not only the right thing to do, it’s essential to building a stronger, more innovative and resilient firm. We are proud to support initiatives like Iris Represents, which extends our commitment beyond our walls by providing pro bono legal support to LGBTQ+ individuals and communities.
This recognition is not the end of the journey, but a reminder of the responsibility we carry to keep progressing. We remain focused on creating an environment where everyone feels safe, valued and empowered to thrive.
We’re proud to stand alongside other leading Australian employers who are championing LGBTQ+ inclusion. Together, we are helping to shape a more equitable and inclusive future for all.

Background
“Respect for the individual" is one of Accenture's core values. It allows our 800,000 people around the world to bring their authentic selves to work every day, enabling them to thrive and develop new ideas and solutions that create positive change for our clients.
At its core, Accenture is a people business. All 800,000 of our current people started their journey with Accenture through our recruitment and onboarding process. This is a critical time for potential joiners as they weigh up Accenture, against other options, in a competitive job market.
This year for our AWEI submission we decided to undertake a project with the objective of reviewing the existing end-to-end recruitment and onboarding employee experience to identify and address areas for improvement for increasing Pride workplace inclusion for potential candidates and new joiners within their first year. The aim was to ensure that the way Accenture interacts with LGBTIQ+ employees or potential applicants is reflective of leading practice and inclusive of all identities within the LGBTIQ+ spectrum. This goes to the core of our recruitment process, weaving in our commitment to equal opportunity and a workplace free from bias.
Approach
Our approach consisted of three main stages:
- Develop an Employee Experience Map for Recruitment and Onboarding to improve inclusion in recruitment campaigns, the interviewing and hiring process and new joiner orientation.
- Measure Accenture’s recruitment and onboarding experience against leading practice through interviews, content analysis and survey results.
- Develop an action plan capturing actions, steps and responsibilities required to address areas for improvement identified in the Employee Experience Map.
Our findings
Overall, we found that Accenture’s recruitment experience predominantly meets LGBTIQ+ inclusion recruitment experience leading practice, but we also identified key areas for improvement. While some of these are quick wins, others will take time to implement. We have developed a 12-month action plan that addresses both immediate and longer-term improvements, to be delivered in partnership with our HR and Recruitment teams. Additionally, since many of the findings are also relevant to other Inclusion & Diversity pillars, the Pride team are also working with these groups to help realise benefits for all in the recruitment and onboarding experience.
I’m incredibly proud AGL has, once again, been awarded Platinum Employer status in the AWEI. This recognition demonstrates the significant effort we’ve made to support our employees, customers and communities where we operate, particularly those from marginalised groups.
AGL Shine, our employee-driven LGBTQ+ network, has been instrumental in advocating for LGBTQ+ inclusion, both within AGL and in the broader community. I’d like to thank AGL Shine and volunteers for representing AGL and enabling us to continue our journey supporting LGBTQ+ inclusion.
We’ve learned a lot from our strong partnership with Pride in Diversity. Through sponsoring events like Midsumma, standing alongside the North Gippsland Football Netball League in support of the LGBTQ+ community, and partnering with Pinnacle Foundation to empower young LGBTQ+ students to achieve their full potential through educational scholarships and mentoring. We’ll continue to collaborate with our peers, stakeholders and partners to take deliberate action and play a leading role in creating an inclusive energy future for all.

Being recognised as a Platinum Employer in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) is a very meaningful milestone for Coles Group. It reflects not just where we are now, but the journey we’ve taken over many years to build a truly inclusive workplace.
Our dedication to LGBTQI+ inclusion has been shaped by ongoing participation in the AWEI, which has helped us benchmark our progress, challenge ourselves, and adopt best practices that make a real difference within our business. These submissions have been more than a yearly process—they’ve been a tool for reflection, growth, and action.
At Coles, everyone is welcome at our table. That belief is woven into the way we work, the way we lead, and the way we support one another. We are continuing our work to create an environment where every team member feels safe, respected, and empowered to bring their whole self to work.
This recognition is a tribute to the many passionate individuals across our business— our 10,000+ LGBTQI+ team members, Pride@Coles Team Member Network, allies, and advocates. They have all helped shape the diverse and inclusive culture we’re proud of today. Their care and courage continue to inspire us to create for a better future that delivers for our customers and our team members.
While we celebrate this achievement, we know this is a journey, not a destination. We remain committed to listening, learning, and leading with purpose—ensuring Coles is a place where diversity is embraced and everyone belongs.

Diversity is integral to our ability to think differently and solve the complex challenges facing the nation. Being an inclusive organisation with a welcoming, authentic and connected culture helps us attract talent and empowers our teams to develop solutions that can provide the greatest
impact for all Australians.
We are very proud to be awarded Platinum Employer status for the first time. Our Pride@CSIRO employee network has been building community across every state and territory, creating a strong support network for LGBTQIA+ employees and allies. Our work has been guided by our first
LGBTQIA+ Action Plan and supported by diversity, inclusion and belonging initiatives - including inclusive recruitment and inclusive leadership development.
We have also increased the visibility and representation of trans and gender-diverse staff across the organisation. Our continued participation at Mardi Gras reflects our commitment to creating a safe, vibrant and welcoming environment where everyone can thrive. Our theme in 2025 was
‘Science for a Rainbow Future’.
We recognise that there are still ongoing challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ identifying staff. CSIRO is deeply committed to working alongside our people with lived experience to foster an inclusive workplace, being courageous in our actions, and humble, curious and active allies.

I’m so proud that Deloitte has been recognised as a Platinum Employer for LGBTI+ inclusion since 2022, reflecting our ongoing commitment to diversity and LGBTI+ inclusion over many years, and our dedication to building stronger teams by ensuring everyone feels valued and respected.
As part of our Platinum project, we launched our landmark report, Building Trans Inclusive Workplaces | Deloitte Australia, in November 2024 – a significant milestone in improving the experiences of transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse employees. The report identifies three key ‘Moments that Matter’, which provide actionable insights for organisations to enhance their inclusivity practices and create safer, more supportive workplaces for everyone.
Thank you and congratulations to our talented Deloitte teams for their continued commitment to building a culture where we reflect the diversity of our clients and where our people can thrive.

We are incredibly proud to have been elevated to Platinum Tier Employer status by the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI), the highest level of recognition for LGBTQ+ inclusion in Australian workplaces. This honour follows our consecutive wins as ‘Employer of the Year’ in 2024 and 2025 and marks a significant milestone in our inclusion journey.
This recognition reflects not only the progress we’ve made, but also our long term investment in building a culture where everyone feels respected, valued and empowered to thrive. It is a testament to the sustained efforts of our people across the firm, and in particular, the leadership of our LGBTQ+ network, Iris, whose advocacy and commitment continue to drive meaningful change.
At DLA Piper, we believe that inclusion is not a destination, but a continuous process of learning, listening and evolving. We are proud of the work we’ve done, from policy development and education to community engagement and pro bono advocacy and we remain committed to deepening our impact.
Being recognised as a Platinum Tier Employer is both an honour and a responsibility. It reinforces our commitment to fostering a workplace where everyone can bring their whole selves to work, and where diversity is celebrated as a strength.
We thank Pride in Diversity for this recognition and for their continued leadership in advancing LGBTQ+ inclusion across Australia.

We are proud NAB has been recognised as a Platinum Employer again in 2025 at the Pride in Diversity Australian Workplace Equality Index Awards. This is wonderful recognition of our ongoing and unwavering commitment to our LGBTQIA+ colleagues and customers.
NAB’s 2-year platinum project was the launch of the More Out and Proud resource designed to support small to medium business customers to be more inclusive for their LGBTQIA+ employees and customers.
Our platinum project, and indeed many of our LGBTQIA+ inclusion efforts, are delivered by a dedicated team of colleagues who do this work in addition to their everyday roles. I’d like to acknowledge and thank the NAB Pride team for delivering our Platinum status, and for their efforts every day in making NAB a more inclusive company for colleagues and customers.

Services Australia is honoured to be recognised as a Platinum Tier Employer. This achievement reflects our commitment to provide a workplace in which every one of our people feels seen, valued and empowered to thrive – regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression.
It shows that embedding inclusion into our culture — from leadership accountability and inclusive policies to grassroots employee initiatives — also strengthens our ability to serve our customers and communities helpfully and respectfully.
Diversity isn’t just a strength, it’s a necessity. When people feel a sense of belonging, they contribute more meaningfully, collaborate more authentically, and innovate more boldly.
The lived experience and voices of our LGBTQIA+ employees and allies has shaped our journey. Their advocacy and leadership has driven real change, through our Rainbow Connection employee network, the strategic guidance of our Rainbow Roundtable, and our agency-wide celebration of days of significance that highlight identity and visibility.
Being named a Platinum Tier Employer is a milestone. It also reminds us that inclusion is a continuous journey, one that requires listening, learning and acting with purpose. We’ve made good progress, and we’re energised by the way ahead as we continue our growth.
To our staff, partners, and the broader LGBTQIA+ community — thank you. This recognition may name the organisation, but it belongs to the people of Services Australia, to all of us.

AWEI Platinum Tier Small Employers (500 or less employees)
Deutsche Bank is delighted to be recognised as a Platinum Employer for the third year running in this year’s Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI).
Platinum Employer recognition highlights the material work and progress undertaken by the bank during the assessment period. Achieving this for the second consecutive year underscores our ongoing commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Each year, the AWEI index gives us an opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved, while also considering how we are going to take our efforts in support of the LGBTQ community to the next level. I am incredibly proud that we have once again obtained Platinum status, placing us in the top tier of employers nationally and recognising the outstanding work of our local dbPride team.
dbPride is Deutsche Bank’s global LGBTQ employee resource group and offers a supportive network for the LGBTQ community and allies within the bank. Its mission is to promote a safe and inclusive work environment where employees can bring their whole and authentic self to work.
In Australia, dbPride regularly runs hosts a wealth of events for members and employees, ranging from education and awareness sessions to ally training programs. The bank is active in the LGBTQ community, supporting international awareness days and fundraising. Our dbPride Committee and its network do a fantastic job in driving the diversity and inclusion agenda. It is important to recognise and celebrate our efforts, but we know that the work does not stop here. This recognition is a testimony to our continuous commitment towards ensuring a fully inclusive workplace where everyone is comfortable bringing their authentic selves.
We are aware that the numbers of the LGBTQ community who do not feel comfortable coming out at work continues to rise. It is critical that this remains a high level of focus for us, and we are working incredibly hard to ensure that everyone can feel safe and empowered at work.
Our sincere thanks to the ACON/Pride in Diversity team for helping us make Deutsche Bank a better place to work for all our local employees.

Gold Employer Recognition
Gold Tier recognition is the highest recognition obtainable for the current year outside of the longevity of Platinum Employer recognition. Gold Employers have obtained the highest AWEI submission scores within the current year. This recognition is indicative of a substantial amount of work and activity in the area of LGBTQ+ inclusion.
Typically, Gold Employer status recognises organisations sitting within the top scores obtained. Gold recognition is an outstanding achievement and organisations that obtain this recognition should be applauded for their level of activity over the given year.

Allens
To see Allens achieve Gold Employer status in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) for the second year running makes me incredibly proud. There is enormous strength in the many backgrounds and life experiences our people bring to Allens and we are all committed to fostering a culture that is safe, supportive, and inclusive for everyone.
Achieving this status again comes from many years of focused effort to support LGBTQ+ inclusion across our firm. Our LGBTQ+ network ALLin, established in 2011, has been instrumental to this effort, driving policies and practices that celebrate diversity and promote equality, raising awareness of issues facing the community and encouraging allyship and advocacy among our people.
Through partnerships with organisations like the Pinnacle Foundation, awareness raising efforts and pro bono work that has upheld and protected the rights of LGBTQ+ people in our communities, we are making an important contribution.
While we take a moment to celebrate this achievement, we know that there is always more work to be done. We are committed to continuing our work to build even greater inclusivity and equality at Allens and beyond.

Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO)
I am honoured that ASIO has once again been recognised as a Gold Tier Employer in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) awards in 2025. ASIO is secretive about our work but not what we value. I am proud to say that ASIO is an organisation that is dedicated to driving practical change and taking action to support a diverse and inclusive workplace.
ASIO has proudly partnered with Pride in Diversity for several years and I am pleased this has resulted in a positive, meaningful change for ASIO’s LGBTQ+ identifying officers. When we achieved this milestone in 2024, we were committed to keep the momentum going for another year and beyond, and this recognition is a testament to that. This significant achievement was led by ASIOpen, our LGBTQ+ Network, in conjunction with our People Division. The award sends a powerful public message that ASIO is a LGBTQ+ government employer of choice. Our aim is to build ASIO’s diversity for the benefit of all, as we protect Australia and Australians from threats to their security.
Well done to our entire team for making this possible. It is essential ASIO reflects the society it protects and we will continue our work to ensure this remains the case into the future.

The NRMA
The entire team at The NRMA are thrilled to be recognised as a Gold Employer at the Australian LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards for the second year in a row. Since launching SHINE, our LGBTQ+ employee network, nearly six years ago, we've made significant strides in creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels they belong, no matter how they identify.
SHINE has been central to our success, driving initiatives that celebrate and support diversity for all NRMA employees right across our operating businesses in roadside assistance, holiday parks & resorts, car rental and marine, as well as all our corporate staff.
Our key achievements over the past 12 months include rolling out unconscious bias training across the Group, launching our Inclusive and Empowering Leadership Series, and establishing a new community partnership with Out for Australia - helping to support the next generation of LGBTQ+ professionals.
We’ve also focused on ensuring our recruitment practices are truly inclusive for LGBTQ+ candidates and employees, while continuing to provide access to learning and connection through Lunch and Learn sessions hosted by SHINE.
Our commitment to inclusion is also prominently displayed through visible statements of support - including the wrapping of an NRMA Patrol vehicle in Pride colours, the Pride stairs at our Sydney Olympic Park office, and the distribution of Pride lanyards to employees. We’re also proud to offer a dedicated leave policy for gender affirmation, supporting team members in their journey.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partner, Pride in Diversity, for their support in helping us achieve this recognition. While we take pride in our achievements, we acknowledge that our journey is ongoing. The feedback from the Australian Workplace Equality Index is invaluable, helping us to refine our approach and continue to improve.

EnergyAustralia strives to create a workplace where everyone can be at their best every day. In this context, a supportive and inclusive environment for the LGBTQA+ community is essential. Our employee community groups like Prism play a critical role – community members and active allies both – to ensure that everyone, regardless of their identity, can be themselves and do their best work, making our workplace better for everyone.
Achieving Gold Status in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) is a significant milestone. We are proud of our Prism team, whose dedication and hard work contribute every day to creating an environment where our LGBTQA+ individuals feel valued and respected.
Of course, each of us plays a role in ensuring that our workplaces are places where people are treated with respect, feel safe, and can voice their opinions. We are committed to investing in and taking action to strengthen our inclusive culture. Through our leadership, values, training, policy and related actions we make real, lasting change.
To the incredible team behind Prism – thank you, and congratulations on this achievement! Your efforts truly make a difference, and together, we’ll continue to build a community where everyone feels they belong.

I’m incredibly proud that Fujitsu has once again been recognised with Gold status by the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) for the third year in a row. This year, we’ve also received special commendation for our commitment to transgender inclusion - an achievement that reflects the dedication of so many across our organisation.
This recognition affirms that we’re making real progress towards building a culture where inclusion is at the heart of how Fujitsu operates. At Fujitsu, we know that creating an environment where every individual feels safe, supported, and empowered to bring their whole self to work leads to stronger teams and better outcomes. Championing diversity and inclusion is an essential part of making that possible.
Our approach to LGBTI+ inclusion is practical and people focused. From gender-neutral bathrooms and wardrobe allowances for employees who are going through gender affirmation, to inclusion training for hundreds of team members, and an active employee advisory group that ensures lived experience is embedded in our decision-making - these actions are meaningful investments in our people and our future.
I’m personally committed to ensuring our workplace continues to evolve and grow in this space. There’s still more to do, but I’m proud of the culture we’re building- one where everyone feels seen, respected, and valued.
To all our people who continue to advocate for inclusion, share their stories, and support one another - thank you. This recognition belongs to you.

We are delighted to be recognised again as an AWEI Gold Employer in the Australian LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards, 2025.
Our new Griffith University Strategy, Creating a brighter future for all (2025-2030) is based on four pillars:
- Purpose and values
- People
- Partnership and impact
- Place and community.
Our achievements and ambitions in LGBTIQ+ inclusion are a true reflection of these core elements.
Our accomplishments in LGBTIQ+ inclusion are a result of ongoing, dedicated work by the Griffith community, including Griffith Pride Committee members, Griffith Allies, Griffith’s Executive Group, staff, students and alumni.
As we celebrate our 50th year, this milestone provides an opportunity for us to not only reflect on how far we have come, but also imagine how we create an even brighter future for all.

I’m incredibly proud that Marsh McLennan has been awarded Gold Tier status in the Australian LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards. This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where you can be your best here, no matter your sexual orientation or gender identity.
Our journey this year was guided by the motto, ‘On the Road to Gold’, and it’s been inspiring to see that vision become a reality. While individual businesses within Marsh McLennan have previously received recognition in the past, such as Oliver Wyman being named Small Employer of the Year in 2021 and Mercer has ranked in the AWEI since 2018, achieving Gold for the entire Marsh McLennan organisation in 2025 marks a significant milestone and reinforces the power of our collaboration.
We are proud to champion a culture where everyone can thrive, a culture that is vibrant, inclusive, and driven by respect. This Gold Tier award is not only a celebration of our internal efforts, but also a signal of our commitment to shaping more inclusive industries that we operate in.
A big thank you to the Pride Colleague Resource Group and our People Function for your remarkable contribution this year. Your passion and advocacy are at the core of making Marsh McLennan a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and celebrated.

At Medibank, inclusion isn’t just a value that we speak about, it’s a value that we embrace, a value that we build on, and a value that we want all our people to experience every single day.
We aspire to be the healthiest workplace in Australia and recognise that our long-standing commitment to inclusion will help us achieve this.
We are incredibly proud to be recognised as a Gold Tier Employer at the 2025 Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) Awards.
This accolade reflects the hard work and tangible efforts of our Rainbow Collective Employee Network to connect, uplift, and celebrate our LGBTQIA+ and allies community.
In 2024, a significant milestone was the introduction of our four-week Gender Affirmation Paid Leave policy to provide support for trans and gender-diverse employees.
We have also been focused on increasing understanding and awareness of LGBTQIA+ experiences, histories, and issues. This year we proudly celebrated IDAHOBIT and Wear It Purple, sharing inspiring lived-experience stories of our people.
While we celebrate these achievements, we know our work is not done.
Respecting and celebrating diversity and inclusion is at the heart of our culture. And whilst some organisations in Australia and further abroad are rolling back their DEI programs and policies, we are doubling down on our commitment.
We will continue to use data-driven targets to measure our progress in building a more diverse and inclusive workplace and be guided by our employee networks.
We are deeply committed to this important work and building on this momentum to make Medibank a more inclusive place for all.

At GPT, inclusion is embedded in how we lead and how we support our people to thrive.
Being awarded Gold in the 2025 Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI), in the Large Employer category, is recognition of the commitment our teams bring to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected and supported to contribute meaningfully.
Progress like this doesn’t happen by accident. It takes deliberate choices—clear policies, leadership, and everyday actions that support our people to thrive.
We believe that when people can be themselves at work, everyone benefits. Our teams are stronger. Our impact is deeper. And our culture becomes a place where people want to stay and grow. This recognition matters—but the culture it reflects matters even more.

At Treasury Wine Estates, inclusion, equity and diversity are central to who we are – they’re embedded in our identity. We believe everyone should feel safe, seen and celebrated for who they are. We express this as Bringing your Whole Self to work, which is one of the three strands of what we call our DNA.
We’re exceptionally proud to have achieved Gold status in the Australian Workplace Equality Index this year – a step up from Silver last year, and a powerful reflection of the progress we’re making.
This achievement is testament to the passion of our people and the commitment across TWE to creating a workplace where everyone belongs. Over the past year, we’ve deepened our efforts through education, training, and events that mark days of significance – because real inclusion is built in the moments that connect us.
We’ve also expanded our support for the LGBTQIA+ community – proudly partnering with and participating in Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival and the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
To our teams and the incredible TWE Pride committee – thank you. Your leadership and advocacy are helping shape a more inclusive TWE every day.
This achievement is not the destination – it’s a marker of the culture we’re building. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, and even more excited for the journey ahead.

At Victoria University, progressive inclusivity is at the core of all we do. We are delighted and humbled to once again be recognised as an AWEI Gold Employer in the Australian LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards 2025.
The university continues to strengthen our ongoing commitments to intersectional, meaningful inclusion – not just in principle, but through tangible initiatives that seek to make a real difference and that are felt and recognised by our community. Through our ‘Uniquely You’ ethos, we celebrate individuality and foster a culture of inclusion, belonging, and safety for all students and staff.
We applaud the advocates, allies and leaders across our university who make this possible – especially the VU Pride Network and its dedicated leadership team, whose vision and energy have driven this progress.
There is always more work to do. Together with our LGBTQIA+ and gender diverse communities, we will continue to nurture a thriving place to study and work, and building a university where every person feels seen, valued, and empowered to be uniquely themselves.

AWEI Gold Tier Small Employers (500 or less employees)
We’re incredibly proud and honoured to have achieved Gold Status as an AWEI employer in 2025. It’s fantastic to have our progress recognised by Pride in Diversity.
This progress hasn’t felt like hard work – because inclusion is part of who we are, not just what we do. We do everything we can to design our culture and systems to reflect real lived experiences in a place where everyone can belong, thrive and be heard.
The voices of our LGBTQ+ team members have illuminated our path and the work we have done together has built a better and more inclusive business. Indeed, many prospective employees cite our leadership in inclusion as a key reason for wanting to join us. Our SuperPride employee resource group, a powerful activator of change, is firmly embedded in company culture, supported by an army of allies.
Inclusion is embedded in our culture at Future Group. Diversity drives progress – for our people, our business and the world. By fostering an inclusive and safe environment, we also empower everyone to do their best work.
So to our incredible team, thank you. We earned this because of your openness, your authenticity, and your commitment to building a workplace where everyone belongs.

We are very pleased to receive our third consecutive Gold Small Employer Award this year. This continued recognition reflects our commitment to fostering a workplace where every individual—regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation—feels seen, supported, and empowered in the workplace. At Russell Kennedy, we have worked hard to build a culture where people don’t have to filter who they are, to feel like they belong. That work is ongoing, and this award is a moment to recognise on how far we have come, and how much further we want to go.
I would like to acknowledge the collective effort of all of our people who contribute to our efforts in this space, including the 155 people who undertook the AWEI survey this year – close to half our workforce. Our SPARKLE network, established in 2019, has driven meaningful change at Russell Kennedy in raising awareness, implementing inclusivity initiatives, improving policy and procedure and encouraging allyship within the firm. We would also like to acknowledge the support of the team at Pride in Diversity over the years.
We remain committed to listening, learning, and continuing to improve upon our efforts in this space, and this award strengthens our resolve to contribute to a more inclusive legal profession for all.

CEO OF THE YEAR | Murat Dizdar, NSW Department of Education
I am deeply honoured to be named CEO of the Year at the 2025 Australian LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards. I see this as a collective award, recognising the fantastic work of our Pride in Education network and the wider team at the NSW Department of Education. Their dedication to promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion has been vital in creating a workplace where every individual feels safe, supported, and valued.
We understand that a truly inclusive education system requires us to not only champion LGBTQ+ rights within our workforce but also ensure that our students feel seen, heard, and supported. This award highlights the tireless work of our network leaders, allies, and staff who are driving meaningful change across the department. I want to make sure that while I’m Secretary, I’m embracing and leading from the front, and supporting our students, our staff, and our community.
While we’ve made significant progress, I know that we have a lot of work still to do. We remain committed to creating an education system where every individual, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, has the support they need to thrive. We are continuously looking for ways to further embed inclusion in our practices and policies.
I am proud of what we’ve accomplished, but we are determined to continue this work. This recognition strengthens our resolve to further advance LGBTQ+ inclusion across the NSW Department of Education.

EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP AWARD | Rebecca Bennett, Murdoch University
It is a privilege to receive the 2025 Executive of the Year Award. Murdoch University has continuously strived to foster an environment that embraces differences and champions equality. Our journey towards becoming a champion of LGBTIQA+ inclusion has been both challenging and rewarding. From the early days of advocacy to the comprehensive strategies we employ today, every step has been guided by the principle that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued. A pivotal moment was when we set the goal to achieve ACON’s LGBT+ Inclusive Employer accreditation. This process was not just about fulfilling criteria; it was about genuinely transforming our institution. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Pride in Diversity for the role they have played in this process, and to congratulate fellow nominees in this category.
As an out and proud queer woman, having a seat at the leadership table has provided me with a unique opportunity to create lasting change, working with colleagues to ensure Murdoch is an environment where everyone can bring their full selves to study and work. This effort is guided by the broader LGBTQA+ community at Murdoch and beyond, whose generosity, expertise and energy have been key to our rapid maturity in this space. As a leader, I cannot overstate the importance of using your position to raise important issues, to stand firm in your values, to have uncomfortable conversations, and to ensure issues facing vulnerable communities are addressed at the highest level. Lived experience should lead inclusion initiatives, with community members valued as the experts in their own inclusion. This award represents the collective effort, over several years, of Murdoch’s LGBTIQA+ community and allies, whose tireless advocacy laid the foundation for us to become the safe and welcoming space we enjoy today. I would like to thank the LGBTIQA+ Advisory Group, the Murdoch Guild Queer Collective, the EDI Team, and the broader LGBTIQA+ community and allies for their ongoing support, guidance, and commitment.
With gratitude and respect,
Dr Rebecca Bennett (she/her/hers)

LGBTQ+ ROLE MODEL AWARD | Georgi Hodge, Origin Energy
I’m incredibly grateful to receive the 2025 LGBTQ+ Role Model of the Year award.
Visibility has always mattered to me—not just being seen, but knowing you're safe and supported when you are. Alongside the Pride committee I have contributed to creating spaces where LGBTQ+ people don’t have to trade authenticity for acceptance, and where coming out is met with celebration, not fear. That work has been especially important in recent years, as we’ve all navigated waves of social change, increased scrutiny, and moments of uncertainty in our community.
There have been times I’ve felt the weight of that change too. What kept me grounded was the steady support of those around me: the Pride@Origin committee, our PiD partners, my personal community, and the many allies who continue to stand beside us, showing up with consistency and care. Together, we’ve worked to embed inclusion deep into our culture and create a place where LGBTQ+ people feel they belong, at work and beyond.
This award is a shared recognition. It reflects the power of community, the strength in showing up for one another, and the importance of creating environments where people can thrive on their own terms.
To anyone still figuring out when and how to be visible: we’ll be here when you’re ready. And to those already doing the work, quietly or loudly, you’re changing the world more than you know.
Thank you for this honour. I’m proud of what we’ve built so far, and even more hopeful for what’s ahead.

MOST IMPROVED SMALL EMPLOYER | Future Group
What a brilliant surprise to win the Most Improved Small Employer award for 2025 from Pride in Diversity. The focus and commitment that has gone into our progress is testament to the inclusive values that we live and thrive on every day – but as much as AWEI feels we’ve improved, we won’t stop working to improve further.
Our path together is shaped by the valued voices and perspectives of our LGBTQ+ team members, who account for about 13% of our people and power up our mission to use the power of money to build a sustainable, equitable future worth retiring into.
From our proactive community of allies to our open-source, LGBTQ+-friendly workplace policies, we share a clear vision of what success looks like, and a collective will to strengthen our impact as a business.
But further than that, we aim to drive systemic change beyond our organisation. No amount of progress is enough. While we’re proud to be recognised, our goal is bigger.
We look forward to the day when this kind of recognition feels almost unnecessary, when equity and inclusion are so a part of the way we all work, they’re simply the norm. Until then, we’ll keep showing up, speaking up, and shouting about our progress from the rooftops.

NETWORK LEADER OF THE YEAR | Professor Michelle Power, Macquarie University
I am absolutely thrilled to have received the AWEI 2025 Network Leader of the Year award. I congratulate all nominees and other award winners and acknowledge how all go above and beyond to support the LGBQTIA+ community. As we navigate the challenges we are currently experiencing as a community, it is the work we do to support each other and the community, our collective, that will see us come through these tough times.
This award stems from the amazing support of Macquarie’s Ally Network co-chair and members of the steering committee. I am so grateful for their ability to get behind the barrage of ideas I put forward, and how as a collective we have contributed to and enabled many aspects of inclusion and belonging for the LGBQTIA+ community within our campus. I continue to learn from this amazing team.
Over the last two years as Network leader, I have had the opportunity to meet and chat with many members of the community. While these conversations have revealed just how far we have come for the LGBQTIA+ community, more work to raise the voices of and to empower the minority groups within the LGBQTIA+ spectrum is needed. I hope that as we move forward, we also see greater actions and visibility around intersectionality.
I share this award with all those who have come on this journey with me and emblazoned the rainbow across Macquarie University, and who continue to make it a place where LGBTQIA+ people truly belong.

SALLY WEBSTER ALLY AWARD | Nerissa Byrne, DLA Piper
Being recognised as the Sally Webster Ally of the Year is an incredible honour, and one that means a great deal to me personally. I’ve had the privilege of growing up with, and working alongside, immediate family, friends and colleagues who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. Their experiences, their joy, strength, and resilience, but also the challenges they’ve faced have shaped my understanding of what it truly means to be an Ally.
I’ve seen firsthand how exhausting it can be to constantly explain, educate, or defend your identity. If there’s anything I can do to ease that burden, to stand beside someone, to speak up, and to help create safer, more inclusive spaces, I will. Always.
For me, allyship is about showing up consistently, listening with empathy, and using whatever influence I have, to help carry some of that weight and advocate for meaningful change. It’s about doing the work, not just when it’s easy or visible, but especially when it’s not.
I hope for the day when inclusion is no longer something we need to highlight or celebrate, when it’s simply how we treat each other, with kindness, respect and humanity. Until then, (and beyond) I’ll keep doing my part, alongside so many others who are equally committed to this work.
I want to acknowledge the other finalists, award winners, and every organisation participating in the AWEI. We are all contributing to something bigger than ourselves, a kinder, more equitable future and I’m proud to be part of that collective journey.
Thank you to Pride in Diversity for this recognition, and for your continued leadership in fostering inclusion across Australian workplaces.

SAPPHIRE INSPIRE AWARD | Reah Saunders, Medibank
Thank you so much for this recognition. I’m incredibly honoured to receive the Sapphire Inspire Award.
As a non-binary person, this recognition means more than words can fully capture. It’s powerful to be seen, not just for who I am, but for the kind of advocacy that happens quietly or in my case, sometimes loudly, every day.
I always believe that the work I do, and the work I do as part of the Rainbow Collective is the kind of advocacy that is consistent, intentional, and deeply rooted in care: care for our colleagues, for our members, and for the broader LGBTQIA+ community.
At Medibank, I’ve had the opportunity to help shape physical, digital, and emotional spaces where our community feels safe, respected, and heard. And beyond our walls, we’ve used our platform, brand, and a range of avenues to elevate LGBTQIA+ health, to share our stories, and to drive conversations that matter.
This award is a reminder that the work we do behind the scenes by checking language, shifting processes, holding space, telling the truth truly matters. It adds up. It makes change.
Thank you to my peers, my community, and everyone at Medibank who believes in creating workplaces and a world where we all belong.

TRANS & GENDER DIVERSE INCLUSION AWARD | DLA Piper
We are deeply honoured to receive the Trans and Gender Diverse Inclusion Award from Pride in Diversity. This recognition is especially meaningful as it reflects the tangible impact of our efforts to create a workplace where trans and gender diverse people, feel seen, supported and empowered.
At DLA Piper, we understand that inclusion must go beyond intention, it requires action, accountability and continuous learning. This award acknowledges the work we’ve undertaken to address the systemic barriers faced by trans and gender diverse individuals, both within our firm and in the broader community.
Our progress in this space has been driven by the passion and leadership of many across the firm, and I would particularly like to recognise Nerissa Byrne, our Diversity & Inclusion Manager in Australia. Her advocacy and commitment have been instrumental in shaping policies, delivering education, and fostering cultural change that affirms and uplifts trans and gender diverse voices.
We remain committed to building a workplace where everyone can thrive as their authentic selves. This award strengthens our resolve to continue listening, learning and leading with purpose.
Thank you to Pride in Diversity for this recognition, and for your continued leadership in advancing LGBTQ+ inclusion across Australian workplaces.
